How to Make a Paracord Dog Collar

| March 10, 2013 | 1 Comments

There are several ways to make a paracord dog collar. You can make a simple cobra weave bracelet that is larger to fit around your dog or cats neck and weave in a D-Ring. Or if you want it to be a little wider you can add another layer buy making it a king cobra collar. This is all up to you, you should take into consideration the size of your pet. A single cobra stitch would obviously suit a smaller dog or cat, while a larger animal would be better suited with a double cobra weave.

There are two popular ways of creating a wider collar or bracelet. A “double stitch cobra weave” or a double king Cobra weave. There are several other weave pattern that can be used, however in this post I just want to discuss the two most common and less challenging ones.

I will include two videos on how to do each weave style below. Just like a paracord bracelet, you have the option of add multiple colors or you can make a dog collar out of one color, it’s your choice. If you are a beginner or just want to make a collar quickly you can also purchase any regular dog collar and wrap it with the standard cobra weave. Just purchase a cheap leather or nylon pet collar that will fit your pet, weave on top of the existing band and around the existing D-ring. I have done this with many other projects and it looks just as good as the real thing. Although you will not be using as much paracord, so if you intend the item to be a survival tool, then it would be better to create from scratch.

Now as I mentioned before, a dog collar is esentially just like a bracelet except longer to fit your pet. Check out the two videos below for making the two different weave patterns. The third Video shows how to weave the D-ring into your collar.

A cobra stitch covered with a king cobra knot.
This is in my opinion the best way to make a paracord dog collar.
